Kids' Scandi-Style Bedroom Ideas

This blog will introduce you to a popular theme for a child’s bedroom – Scandi-style bedrooms. Scandi is a great choice for a kid’s bedroom as it is relatively gender neutral, so it’s equally appropriate for a girl or boy’s bedroom. This means that if you have a baby on the way and do not want to know the gender, but you do want to get on with decorating their bedroom before it arrives, then this is a great option. It’s also a good option if you have a girl and a boy sharing a bedroom or if you would simply like your child to grow up choosing which colours they like, rather than having blue or pink chosen for them.

What is the Scandi style?

Scandi stands for Scandinavian – which refers to Denmark, Norway and Sweden, the northern countries in Europe which are typically home to colder weather. A minimalistic, cosy feel is typical of scandi style interiors, as they feature lots of grey, white, brown and black colours. The style is designed to play with natural light which is highly valued in Nordic countries, and I’m sure you’d agree that it is equally valued in the UK. Despite the minimalism, the Scandi-style is slightly different as some contrast is often added to make a statement. White and black monochrome effects are typical of Northern European countries’ interiors
